Mission
The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program is dedicated to providing access to higher education for New Jersey residents who demonstrate potential and motivation to succeed in college but who would not be able to attend without the financial assistance and special support services that are an integral part of this program.

What is the EOF program?
EOF was established in 1968 by the legislature of the state of New Jersey. The program offers a gateway to higher education for those students who are highly motivated but who are significantly burdened by economic and academic disadvantages.

EOF at Burlington County College
Students who enroll through the EOF program at Burlington County College (BCC) begin by participating in a one-day orientation program that introduces achieving behaviors such as persistence, sustained concentration, risk-taking, and teamwork. These concepts are reinforced through a series of workshops provided throughout the academic year.

Who is eligible for EOF?
You are eligible to apply for EOF if you:

  • Plan to enroll full-time and pursue a degree or credit certificate program.
  • Have held legal residence in New Jersey for at least 12 months.
  • Have demonstrated a need for supplemental academic support based on test results of the college placement exam.
  • Have both the potential and motivation to succeed in college as determined by a personal interview with the EOF Director.
  • Demonstrate need for substantial financial assistance, which is determined after you submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
