The art program at BCC prepares student for transfer to a four-year college or art school, assist students in career preparation and decision making, and guides student in critical job of portfolio development.
BCC's Art program is an appropriate major for students wishing to enter the fields of art education, art therapy, arts administration, graphic design, art history, museum or gallery work, photography, interior design, or to prepare for careers as working artists. Since most students will transfer to a four-year institution, it is important to consult the catalog of the intended transfer school directly, to ensure that the courses taken here will suit the requirements of the transfer program. For students seeking work in fields requiring master's degrees, such as art therapy, art history or museum studies, students should consider their work at BCC as an important first step in achieving those goals.
