Biology Course Descriptions
Option to Liberal Arts and Sciences, (AS.BIO)
This program prepares students to transfer to four-year institution to complete BS degrees with a major in one of the following areas: biology, microbiology, biotechnology, physical therapy, pharmacology or physician assistant programs. Students in this program engage in a broad based liberal arts and sciences curriculum that is typical of that of a freshman and sophomore biology major at a four-year institution. Graduates of biology programs with BS degrees can enter professional programs such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, chiropractic medicine and physical or occupational therapy. Biology graduates also continue graduate work beyond their bachelor's degree and enter exciting research in fields such as molecular biology, microbiology, botany, and zoology to name a few.
Our biology graduates have transferred to institutions such as Rutgers University, Rider University, Rowan University, Thomas Jefferson University, University of Pennsylvania and other public and private institutions in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Area pharmaceutical companies such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, and American Cyanamid have employed recent graduates. Many others have successfully completed medical, dental, veterinary and physical and occupational therapy programs.
