
Police Science Course Descriptions
Certificate (CRT.CRJ)
Police Science is the study of the prevention and detection of crime and the enforcement of our laws. The 30 credit certificate program is designed for those interested in law enforcement careers. The program also includes courses of particular value to the in-service police officer.
Students who complete the certificate in Political Science program will be able to:
- Apply critical thinking skills to resolve criminal justice practitoner issues
- Demonstrate knowledge of Due Process and Crime Control modes of criminal justice
- Define and respect the rights of all citizens guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution
- Describe the science and art of investigative technique
- Describe the attributes of an organized crime group
- Apply an understanding of the operations of police agencies
- Explain the causal theories of juvenile delinquency
- Define the role of science in criminal investigations
