Prospective Students

In order to be eligible for NJ STARS, students must be identified in the top 15 percent of their high school class in either junior or senior year. Students must also graduate from high school and demonstrate college readiness for English and math in order to qualify for NJ STARS. To download the following NJ STARS Checklist Form, Click Here.

TO DO LIST INSTRUCTIONS DEADLINE
Apply to Burlington County College and declare a major. Apply online. If you are unsure of which major to declare, choose liberal arts. BCC has an open enrollment policy; however, students are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
Complete required FAFSA application. Indicate BCC as the first choice college.

Complete the appropriate aid year FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Make BCC the first choice college.

July 13, 2012
Complete required state financial aid paperwork. Indicate BCC as first choice school. Visit www.hesaa.org and click “Report Additional Information for State Aid.”

Returning students: June 1, 2012
All other applicants (Fall semester or full
academic year) - October 1, 2012
All other applicants (Spring semester only) - March 1, 2013
Submit final, official high school transcripts. Final transcripts are required for all NJ STARS students. Please send them to Burlington County College,

As soon as final transcripts become available after high school graduation.
Submit any other college transcripts Official transcripts must be sent to Registration to be evaluated for transfer credit. Students may use unofficial copies of transcripts for initial registration. Unofficial copies should accompany the student on the day of registration. Official copies should be received before registration for the student’s second semester.
Display college readiness for English and math. Submit SAT and/or ACT test scores:
SAT: Math: 530-Critical Reading: 540
ACT: 20 Reading, 23 Math, 23 Composite
Or
Take BCC Accuplacer testing for English and/or math
Or
Submit AP scores
Or
Submit college-level English and/or math taken at another accredited institution
*Additional informational for students who require calculus for their degree.

Complete the Verification Process for Federal and/or State aid.

If selected for verification, submit all required paperwork to the BCC Financial Aid office.

Register for courses & sign NJ STARS contract. Make an appointment with the Coordinator of

Registration after the payment deadlines will result in same day payment being required.
Make payment on all fees.
* NJ STARS covers tuition only for 12-18 credits per semester, no summer funding
available. The remainder of the cost of attendance is the responsibility of the student.
Payment on fees can be made once NJ STARS funding is awarded to the student’s account. Students will be sent an award letter from financial aid and the award will appear on the student’s WebAdvisor account.

Become familiar with BCC email and WebAdvisor accounts. Log in to your BCC email and WebAdvisor and change your password. Use these tools daily as it is the main means of communication between you and school. As soon as you are given access to the accounts.
Meet with a
transfer advisor.
Visit the Transfer Services website and make an appointment to meet with a transfer advisor. Proper planning is the key to a successful transfer. It is never too early to start planning for transfer. Start researching possible majors and transfer institutions, then make an appointment with a transfer advisor for details.
Get involved. Check out the Student Activities office for events,
clubs and organizations to help students network and
increase campus involvement.
Beginning of semester.
Apply for graduation. Students must apply for graduation via their WebAdvisor accounts. It is recommended to apply once the student has registered for what should be their final semester.

The college offers graduation in the following semesters: Spring, Summer II and Fall.

In order to be considered for graduation in these terms you must adhere to the following deadlines:
Spring: March 1st
Summer II: June 1st
Fall: November 1st

 *If pre-calculus and/or calculus are required for the student’s degree, an additional placement test may be necessary to determine college readiness for the pre-appropriate math sequence. An academic advisor can be contacted for details.
