  • Under the Federal Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA), students who are convicted for any offense related to any federal or state law involving the possession or sale of illegal drugs will lose eligibility for any type of Title IV assistance.

Copyright Infringement Policies and Sanctions
  • Bridges Christian College prohibits the use of its network to engage in copyright infringement. Copyright infringement includes the file sharing of copyrighted material without authorization, including the unauthorized downloading or sharing of copyrighted music. Students engaging in unauthorized file sharing can be referred to the Vice President for Student Life for adjudication and potential discipline. Copyright infringement also carries potential civil and criminal legal penalties. In general, anyone found liable for civil copyright infringement may be ordered to pay either actual damages or “statutory” damages of not less than $750 and not more than $30,000 per work infringed. For “willful” infringement, a court may award up to $150,000 per work infringed and can assess costs and attorney’s fees. Willful copyright infringement can also result in criminal penalties, including imprisonment of up to five years and fines up to $250,000 per offense. Adapted from Valor Christian College.
